A Great Many Thanks!

Today, most of the marketing for a novel is left up to the author. Thanks to social media, this isn't that difficult to do. Just time consuming.

Less than three weeks ago, I signed with Limitless Publishing for my debut novel, The Spirit. (Which will be followed by The Body and The Soul.) Before that, I didn't have much of a social media presence as an author. But in that short amount of time, I've seen a huge increase in followers on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads.

And it's all because of YOU!

Even without a cover, a number of you have added The Spirit to one of your shelves to read in the future, and I thank you for that. Thank you. Thank you!

I am dedicated to keeping my pages and blog up to date so you can know where I'm at in the publishing process.

I can't thank you enough for your support!

Kudos to you!

The Whole Social Media Thing

Join Facebook, they said. Join Twitter, they said. Get a blog, they said. Start a Goodreads account, they said. Check out Pinterest, they said.

It'll be fun, they said.

Sure. I can do that. (Well, except Pinterest which I'm worried about getting completely addicted to. Someday, though. Probably.)

But here's what they didn't say.

You'll spend hours online just getting followers. Setting up your pages will be a royal pain in the backside. You'll probably be confused most of the time. And frustrated some of the time.

They also didn't say that it's a great way to connect with people. To reach out and make new friends. To get star-struck when that ONE author who wrote that book you love 'friends' you. Or better yet, messages you!

They didn't say how great those connections and friendships would make you feel. That it would remind you that you're not alone. And that you have awesome people out there who support you that you've never met.

Yeah, they were right.

This'll be fun.

Thanks everyone!

Oh, What to Write?

Ever since I created this blog, I've wondered what my first entry should be about. I considered doing something clever, some fun analogy and relate it back to how awesome it is to have completed writing that first novel. After staring at a blank screen for hours, I quickly abandoned that idea.

Then I thought, maybe I need to do something smart. You know, like explain the difference between 'affect' and 'effect.' But more blogs than necessary do that, and I have no desire to be anyone's personal grammar Nazi. (I can't diagram a sentence to save my life, anyway!)

So I did what any other average human being would do: I abandoned the blog. Apparently, I had nothing to say.

Until I received an email.

A week later, when I was finally able to form words again, I realized I needed to find something to say.

I bet you really want to know what was in that email, huh?

An offer. An offer to publish my book. And not just the first one. The TRILOGY!

Now you get the picture. Me, speechless.

Well, OF COURSE I signed the contract! The Spirit Trilogy is being published by Limitless Publishing, and all of a sudden, I have a lot say!

A lot to celebrate. I hope you'll join me on this amazing journey.

Well, well. Lookie there. My first blog post is complete.
